Vetiver is a perennial bunchgrass of the family Poaceae. For a thousand of years vetiver oil is known in South Asia, Southeast Asia and West Africa in traditional medicine. It is known as “oil of tranquility” in India and Sri Lanka for its boosting, healing, protection from "negative energies" and calming and cooling the body. In 1940 it was introduced in Haiti by Frenchman Lucien Ganot where the biggest exporter of vetiver oil was produced.
